President Obama stopped at Arthur Bryant’s Barbecue in Kansas City. He came to have dinner with four local people who sent him letters telling him about their troubles and triumphs.

These sorts of stops have become quite common for the president in recent weeks.

But before chatting with the letter writers he greeted an entire fast pitch softball team. Later I spotted some of the sixteen year olds, and even one of the moms trying to take selfies with the president in the background.

A woman in town from Los Angeles gushed as she met him saying he was “so handsome” and suggesting the First Lady was lucky.

Unfortunately, when it was time for him to start talking to the folks who had written him letters, the press pool was ushered out. Perhaps they will have a better conversation without all of us there snapping and recording away.

In case you are wondering the president ordered a half slab of ribs, fries and bakes beans. He wanted coleslaw but they were out. “You didn’t save any for me,” Obama asked. “C’mon man. I thought you were going to hook me up.” He also ordered a bottle of water and a Bud Light. Budweiser is of course brewed in St. Louis, MO.
